One of the best things about going to university is making the most of all the new experiences on offer. Whether you join a society or just explore what’s on in the city, there’ll be so many opportunities to try things out that you never dreamed of.
We sent some of our students along to Bear Grylls Adventure at the NEC, Birmingham where they tried out some adrenaline-fuelled activities worthy of any students’ bucket list.
1) Escape room
Use your brain and the skills of your team mates to crack codes, solve puzzles and find your way out.
Will you be as skilled as the Walking Dead’s Darryl with a bow and arrow? Have a go with proper wooden bows as you try to hit the target – and don’t worry, there’s no zombies here.
3) Assault course
Balance, jump, climb and scramble your way through the assault course against the clock. Can you beat the 55 second record set by the Royal Marines? Our student Devon was quick, but not that quick.
4) Indoor skydiving
Being able to fly is everyone’s childhood dream, right? Try out one of the fastest growing worldwide sports where you’ll be thrown into free fall using leading wind speed technology. You won’t even need to jump out of a plane – perfect if heights aren’t your thing.
5) High ropes
After you’ve zip-wired in from a Chinook helicopter, have a go at the most extreme high ropes action in Europe with 36 different challenges over five storeys. Zig zag across rolling beams, climb ladder bridges and cross snake steps over 20 metres above the ground.
6) Snorkel with sharks
Who needs to go to the Great Barrier Reef to see some amazing underwater wildlife? Snorkel in this tropical tank which is home to more than 1,000 sea creatures including black tip reef sharks and rays.
