Psychology facilities

Our working and studying environments are second to none and you will be supported by some of the best facilities in the country.

All of our facilities are located in the brand new Curzon Building at the University’s City Centre Campus in Birmingham city centre.

We have an impressive suite of laboratories and rooms that are used for psychological experiments, all of which have been approved by the British Psychological Society.

The BSc (Hons) Psychology programme is supported by a behavioural observation laboratory, which contains E-Prime computers, EEG scanners and eye-tracker equipment, all of which are specifically devised for conducting psychological and neuroscientific experiments.

The Department also boasts individual experimental psychology laboratories, an editing suite and three psychology teaching laboratories that are maintained by dedicated psychology technicians and the IT department.

Conducting experiments

As a student in the Department of Psychology, you will have the opportunity to conduct psychology experiments that will generate data for psychology report writing and dissertation work.

To this end, you will have the opportunity to use facilities including the editing suite, feedback audio and visual cameras/equipment, the EEG scanner and eye tracker equipment, and state-of-the-art software such as E-Prime, SPSS, Pinnacle Studio and NVIVO.
