Creative Industries and the Creative Economy

Interest in the creative economy has been a key feature the recent past, particularly so as governments (particularly in the UK) have sought to create and exploit unique specialisms and areas of national competitive advantage. The creative industries are perceived as both a site of innovation, and as a major contributor to innovation in related sectors.

Some research in relation to creative sector has been undertaken (in particular, with respect to the forms of innovation, drivers, barriers, management models, and outcomes), but a much greater understanding is possible and needed. Research in the following fields (and more) is encouraged:

  • Creative Clusters (ecology, location, drivers, management and performance)
  • Regeneration and the Enhancement of Health and Well-being
  • Policy Support and the Creative Environment.
