We continue to build strong, strategic partnerships across private, public and third sectors, collaborating with industry to provide new, vital subject knowledge. We have secured national and international funding for our research, enabling us to lead cutting-edge research with measurable impact.
We apply our research in the following ways:
STEAM
STEAM is an interdisciplinary way of thinking, finding innovative solutions to current challenges. Our STEAM scholarships will contribute to Birmingham’s evolving landscape, powering research with external organisations and helping our PhD students create new solutions, products and services in a variety of industries. Our STEAMhouse facility is a space for new ideas and solutions, while our STEAMlabs sessions provide intensive, integrated workshops.
BCU Advantage
BCU Advantage enables our students to work alongside businesses, whether as a placement or through full-time employment, to help them solve a variety of challenges. Students bring the skills and knowledge they are learning on the course and solve tasks related to their programme of study.
Institutes
Our three Innovation Institutes – the Institute for Creative Innovation, Institute for Sustainable Futures, and Institute of Health and Quality of Life – provide academic knowledge and skills that will drive project and business innovation in a range of areas. Collaborating with academic experts and specialists, businesses from all sectors will find solutions to the issues modern businesses face.
