Architecture, Built Environment and Planning

Work in this area is primarily carried out through the School of Engineering and the Built Environment, as well as the Birmingham School of Architecture and Design, and has demonstrated significant impact, evidenced in the REF 2014 results.

In architecture, Lubo Jankovic has established the Zero Carbon Lab, developing and monitoring retrofitted houses in order to lift low-income houses out of fuel poverty and help significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while our environmental experts are helping improve sustainability and urban conservation.
