In 2008 Victoria graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 in Biological Sciences. After a few years working in retail she started her PGCE in Primary Education at Newman University College (now Newman University). Graduating in 2012, she began her NQT year teaching Year 5 in a deprived area of Birmingham. She continued teaching Year 5 caretaking Science as a subject from her NQT year.

Maths, as a subject, was something she focused on in her CPD (continued professional development). As a result it is a subject she built higher skill in teaching. More recently she changed to supply teaching to get a broader experience teaching in different schools and primary age ranges. Teaching during the changes in curriculum and assessment raised a lot of questions with few answers leading her to pursue education academically and led to her current study at Birmingham City University researching Assessment Without levels.
