Jane qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1991. She has worked as a nurse in hospital settings and the community, with adults and children. Jane worked in education within the NHS for 10 years as a Senior Clinical Trainer. She has taught health and social care in a variety of settings: schools, colleges and universities. Jane was a Programme Lead for several apprenticeship programmes from Level 2 -5, including an Assistant Practitioner Higher Apprenticeship.

Jane has experience and qualifications as an assessor, internal quality assurer and coach and mentor.

She studied for her degree at Birmingham City University, as a mature student and joined BCU as a Lecturer in 2018. In 2019 she became a Senior Lecturer and has taken on the role of course lead for the FdSc Nursing Associate.

Jane has recently completed a Masters in Learning and Teaching Vocational Subjects. Her research interests are around the development of apprenticeship programmes within university settings.
