Boccherini’s Op.11 quintets are rich in invention and contain both his timeless Minuet from Op.11 No.5 as well as the extraordinary sounds of exotic birds in the Aviary. The second half features his wonderful Stabat Mater, heard in its original version and featuring Royal Birmingham Conservatoire musicians and International Chair in Double Bass, Thomas Martin.
