Great Western Arcade

Colmore Row, Birmingham B2 5HU

A site-specific exhibition, organised by Birmingham City University’s MA Curating course, in close collaboration with the management, retailers and residents of the Arcade.

The exhibited artworks relate and respond to various facets which characterise the Great Western Arcade as well as the specific shops where some of the works will be shown.

This includes:

  • the historical significance of the Arcade
  • the building’s architecture
  • the importance of its location as a site of passage and portal between Snow Hill and New Street station
  • and the proliferation of and support for independent businesses within the arcade.
