The Conservatoire’s acclaimed Thallein Ensemble present a programme of music by Karin Rehnqvist including Raven Chant plus new pieces by Conservatoire students, James Alexandropoulos-McEwan, Apostolis Alysandratos and Anthony Leung.
Frontiers welcomes you to a special week of events centered around a residency from the remarkable Swedish composer Karin Rehnqvist.
Rehnqvist is one of Scandinavia’s most well-known contemporary composers, whose work is regularly performed all over the world. Her powerfully unforgettable music incorporates elements of folk music such as the vocal technique of Kulning, and she has worked in every medium ranging from orchestral work and operas through to ensembles made of instruments made from ice.
Other highlights of the week include a portrait concert of Conservatoire-based Irish composer Ed Bennett performed by the viscerally charged Decibel, and a Composers', Platform featuring a host of world premières from our dynamic composition department.
