Find out more: English Postgraduate study
Postgraduate fairs

Drop-in to our informal pizza evening to find out more about studying a Master’s in Creative Writing or Linguistics and to take part in our “guest author seminar” as part of the current MA programme. Whether you’re thinking of continuing your previous studies in the discipline to take you to the next level, or you’re looking to specialise in English after gaining an undergraduate degree in another subject, our staff and current students will be on hand to answer all of your questions.
Our postgraduate courses
Our Masters degrees include a creative course and more analytical, distance learning Linguistics course.
You could have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience) from an array of areas, from Business or Marketing, to Media or Health. As long as you can submit a portfolio of recent writing for review, you are welcome to apply.
Who should attend?
- Current Birmingham City University undergraduate students from any discipline – whether you’re studying an undergraduate degree in English, or whether you’re studying something entirely different but want to specialise your focus in a new area at Master’s level and can provide a portfolio of recent writing for review.
- Those currently holding an offer for a postgraduate course in Creative Writing or Linguistics for September 2018
- Those thinking of applying for a postgraduate course in Creative writing or Linguistics, looking to start in September 2018.
Event location
On arrival, please go to the reception desk in the Curzon Building where you will be shown to the room. For current students, the event will take place in C455/457 and the guest author seminar will be in C581.
