Cities and Science Communication

Interactive Cultures members Tim Wall and Simon Barber worked as part of Birmingham City University's project team, along with colleagues in the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences, on this European Union-funded project.

The team was partnered with a selection of European and international organisations, including Birmingham's own City Council and Thinktank Science Museum. The project aimed to assess ways of building a scientific culture, in order to devise and test new ways of increasing both people's understanding of and involvement in science and its impact on their lives.

Our role was one of dissemination, and we created the project's web presence, and organised some engagement events. For us, this served as an experiment in building a community around a web presence.

More information about the Cities and Science Communication project is available from the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research (BCMCR).
