Culture Cloud 2011 to 2012

Interactive Cultures is one of a number of academic evaluation teams working on projects funded under the Digital Research and Development Fund for Arts and Culture.

This fund was established by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), Arts Council England (ACE) and the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC), in order to support arts and cultural organisations across England that wish to employ digital technologies to expand their audience reach and engagement and/or explore new business models.

Our job was to evaluate a research and development project called Culture Cloud, a partnership between New Art Exchange, a Nottingham-based art gallery, and Artfinder, a technology start-up focused on the art marketplace.

We also had the opportunity to conduct some research of our own, into the culture of both art and technology organisations, the nature of partnerships between them, and the consumption of art both on- and offline.

The project involved Interactive Cultures researchers Paul Long, Tim Wall, Simon Barber and Nick Webber.

More information about the Culture Cloud project is available from the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research (BCMCR).
