Our Graduates

Want to see where our graduates go?

Alumni of the School of Law can be found up and down the UK, in countless different roles and companies. From lawyers in countries across the world to those running their own legal firms. We like to keep in touch with all of our graduates, so we can show you how we can help get your career started the moment you join us.

Placements

There's no better way to prepare for work than to experience it first-hand. That’s why we put so much time and dedication into our Law Placements Scheme.

You'll work alongside our Careers+ team to find the perfect company and role for you. It's the best way to gain a clear advantage over the competition, building your experience and your confidence by putting theory into practice in a real business environment.

Field Trips 700x350 - European Parliment

Field Trips

We want to show our students every side of law.

One of our main goals within the School of Law is to show you law in practice. We want you to graduate with as much practical experience and knowledge as possible. One way we assure that this happens is by regularly organising trips in Birmingham and beyond.

American Internship Programme

The Law School’s Centre for American Legal Studies operates the UK’s largest student internship programme to the USA.

The programme was established in 1994 and to date we have placed over 500 students in Federal and State Public Defender offices, private attorney offices, American University Law Schools, law projects and organisations across the USA, from New York City to West Texas and San Francisco.

Undergraduate placements last for between six and eight weeks, and count as a fully accredited part of the LLB degree.

Law Clinic discussion with a student

Law Clinic

At the Law School we are firmly committed to providing excellent opportunities for students to undertake practical work experience to enhance legal skills and thereby their employability with the added benefit of making a real contribution to the Birmingham legal community.

This is offered through the Birmingham City University Law Clinic and involves both volunteering in conjunction with local legal providers and working on real cases as part of assessed modules.

Student Services

Birmingham City University offers a wide range of services to help support students before, during and after their degree.

This includes our enhancements schemes from Graduate+, Careers+ and Centre for Academic Success, alongside our accommodation team and Student Union.
