Rachel studied Oriental Studies (Chinese) at Oxford University and the National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan. Following that, she then completed the GDL conversion course and LPC equivalent at Birmingham City University.
Rachel qualified as a solicitor following her studies in Chinese (Oxford University and Taiwan) and Law (Birmingham City University). She practiced in Public / Family law for 10 years. In 2001, she became a lecturer at the University of Law in Birmingham, progressing to Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and finally Design Manager, designing the Public and EU law modules of the LLB, during her time there.
Rachel now works part-time at Birmingham City Universityteaching Public Law, Professional Skills, EU law and Family Law. She also runs her own business designing and delivering courses for visiting Chinese legal professionals. For example, her most recent course was in November 2015 when she designed and delivered a course on the English Criminal Justice system to Chinese prosecutors.
