International Jewellery London to sponsor new student award

Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery is delighted to announce a new graduate prize sponsored by International Jewellery London (IJL). IJL is the UK’s leading trade event for the international jewellery industry and will be sponsoring the award for the next three years.

The award is designed to help prepare the graduate winner for success, including £1000 cash plus travel expenses for travel and subsistence to attend the Kickstarter Networking event in London ahead of IJL 2019. Open to all undergraduate courses, shortlisted finalists will have their business proposal selected by an expert independent IJL panel who will award the prize at the School’s industry night.

Speaking afterwards, Professor Stephen Bottomley, Head of School, said:

This prize is being launched after the successful Spotlight on Birmingham’s jewellery industry at IJL 2018.The Spotlight celebrated Birmingham’s thriving world class jewellery centre. It was opened by The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Yvonne Mosquito, and it was supported by leading Jewellery Quarter businesses and institutions; Cookson Gold, Weston Beamor, the Assay Office and the School of Jewellery.
