Did you know?

We know that making decisions about where to study can be daunting, so here's some key info about our new suite of sport science courses so you can feel reassured about your choices.

The Doug Ellis Sports Centre

In 2010 we spent £7 million on a brand new sports centre - The Doug Ellis - which will provide an invaluable resource for you as a sport student. Facilities include an all-weather pitch, an 80-station fitness suite, an eight-court sports hall, and workout and spinning studios.

And then there's the Pavillion...

For sports that require a pitch, you'll also have access to The Pavillion with its 18 hectares of sports facilities including 12 grass pitches, 22 changing rooms, all-weather pitch, two rugby pitches, two cricket nets, first aid room, disabled access and changing facilities, and a viewing balcony. Plus a bar...

Not forgetting the brand new equipment and facilities being built right now!

We're investing £41 million in additional facilities and equipment as at our City South Campus to accommodate education and sport science students. Our new equipment is extensive so you could soon get your hands on our three court sports halls, gait analysis suite, strength and conditioning/rehabilitation room, cardiovascular room, sport and exercise science lab with environmental chamber, sport research lab with DXA (bone density) and anti-gravity treadmill, sports therapy teaching room and clinic, nutrition lab, high performance treadmills/cycling ergos, isokinetic dynamometer, force plate/motion capture/notational analysis, cryotherapy equipment, technogym and more. Phew - you're going to be busy!

You'll be work-ready

We're using a range of tools to ensure you're ready for employment by the time you leave us for the workplace. We offer Value Added Qualifications, including Early First Aid and courses recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). We've also embedded a work placement into every year of your course and you can also take advantage of an optional sandwich year which allows you to go out into industry and get paid! If that weren't enough, our courses have been co-designed with employers AND students to ensure our courses are what you want and what your future employers need.
