Charlotte Jones

Charlotte moved to Birmingham City University (BCU) in January 2022 after working at the University of Birmingham (UoB) as a Research Technician for 11 years. Here she worked on several projects investigating immune responses to Mycobacteria tuberculosis, Salmonella Typhimurium and, briefly, SARS-COV-2 infection. Charlotte has worked with Post Doc researchers as well as training, supervising and mentoring work experience, undergraduate, masters and PhD students. She also has experience creating and complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Health and Safety policies and was appointed Deputy Manager of the tuberculosis (TB) Containment Level 3 laboratory at UoB in 2021, where she was responsible for the maintenance of the laboratory, in addition to training students and staff.

Charlotte’s role as a Research Assistant at BCU involves supporting researchers within the Centre of Life and Sport Sciences (C-LaSS) by; performing fund searches/horizon scanning; organising centre meetings and seminars; minute taking; as well as creating and maintaining the C-LaSS Research Hub Moodle page, specifically designed to support early and mid-career C-LaSS researchers. Charlotte is also a member of the Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team (SAT) for the School of Health Sciences, BCU, which achieved Bronze Award in July 2022.
