Rob qualified as an ODP in 2011 and worked in a District General Hospital in North Wales, maintaining competencies in all 3 areas – Anaesthetics, Surgery and Post Anaesthetic Care. He covered all specialties within the hospital, including Trauma and Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Emergency Surgery.
Rob took up senior roles in the Upper GI and Colorectal theatres and furthered his leadership skills within the department.
He also took part in working within the Resuscitation Department and Critical Care, whilst gaining experience with transferring critically ill patients, including helicopter transfer training. He worked with procurement of centralised contracts within the Welsh NHS.
Rob became Theatre Manager at a Private Hospital in Cheshire. During his time at the hospital, he oversaw the relocation to a brand new state-of-the-art theatre complex. This included doubling the number of theatres at the hospital and significantly increased the surgical capacity of the hospital.
Rob’s areas of specialty for teaching are Surgery, Transition to Higher Education and Transition to Professional Practice, including Leadership and Management and Governance.
Outside of work, Rob is keen on sport and music. He enjoys football and rugby, and is a keen Wales fan. He plays squash and likes to keep fit.
