Prizes up for grabs included books and audiobooks signed by Fifty Shades author E L James, as well as a mask created by Nottingham mask designer Samantha Peach, who designed and provided a mask for the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ film.

The ‘Mr Grey’s Masquerade’ event followed the release of the third movie in the Fifty Shades film series – ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ – with funds raised from the evening being donated to West Midlands homelessness charity St Basils.

The charity helps over 5,000 young people across the region each year who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, supporting them to regain stability in their lives and rebuild a fulfilling future.

As well as the Fifty Shades fundraiser with burlesque dancers and butlers in the buff, other events included beauty masterclasses at All Bar One in Brindley Place and a ‘Grease’ fancy dress party at The Night Owl in Digbeth on 15 February, in celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary.

BA (Hons) Fashion Business and Promotion students organised these events as part of their Events Management module. Find out more about the module on the School of Fashion and Textiles blog.
