Student mentors at the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences have welcomed girls from three local primary schools to Birmingham City University, celebrating the completion of a mentoring programme to raise educational aspirations with a graduation ceremony for the girls and their mums.
The mentoring programme is run by Mosaic, an education charity founded by the Prince of Wales, which looks to create opportunities for young people growing up in disadvantaged communities.
Lynn Fulford, Associate Dean for the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences, said: "It is an enormous privilege to work with Mosaic and to support the highly motivated girls so that they can develop their aspirations and set high goals for their futures.
"Our students also benefit from working with Mosaic as it provides them with the opportunity to share their experiences of education and to act as role models for the young people involved."
