Simon was a primary teacher in the Midlands for 22 years and has been a deputy Head and Acting Headteacher. Since 2011 Simon has been a senior lecturer at BCU and teaches on both the PGCE Primary and BA QTS courses. Simon teaches professional studies and is module leader for the Emerging Teacher module. Simon also support students in school as they embark on their journey to becoming Primary school teachers.

During his time at BCU Simon has been the BA QTS Year 1 tutor and is currently the Admissions tutor for the BAQTS Primary course. Simon has worked with partners oversees and this has led him to teaching on a programme based in China. He has also widened his experience by being an external examiner for another University.

Simon is currently Chair of Governors at a Primary School in Birmingham and my experiences of governance led me to write a Masters dissertation about my experiences in helping transform a school to an Ofsted grading of good. Simon is currently studying on one of the University’s Doctoral programmes.

Away from University Simon has a passion for Rugby Union and is a committee member and selector at Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club. Simon also enjoys hill walking and wildlife photography.
