Sport Development Officer (Recreational Sport & Physical Activity) (Secondment)

Gary has worked in the Sport Development across the Higher Education (HE) Sector for the last 10 years. Current and previous employment has included various roles in sports development, sports coaching, teaching on various undergraduate sports programmes and management of various sports projects within a HE and wider community setting.

Prior to joining Birmingham City University, Gary worked at the University of Gloucestershire managing a successful sports participation programme (UNIversal Sport), as part of the Sport England funded Active Universities & University Sport Activation Funds facilitating behaviour change to increase participation in sport and physical activity and to create a sporting habit for life.

In addition, Gary has significant experience in developing performance sport within a HE environment at both the University of Gloucestershire working alongside various performance teams and athletes, and at Sheffield Hallam University having spent 16 months working for Sport Hallam developing the Team Hallam partnership.
Gary has over 15 years experience in coaching, predominantly within a football environment, he is a UEFA B, FA Licensed coach and in 2016 became an Affiliate Tutor and Coach Educator for The Football Association and England Squash.
