Caroline worked as a social work practitioner in a community setting for a number of years with a range of adult service user groups, primarily within the fields of learning disabilities and mental health. Caroline joined BCU as a full-time social work lecturer in Sept 2006, and teaches across a variety of modules, specializing in mental capacity law, working with vulnerable adults and safeguarding. Caroline is currently programme leader for the BSc Social Work programme and module lead for the Year 1 module Human Growth and the Life Course.

In 2012 - 2013 Caroline took a sabbatical year out to work as a social worker in Australia, and spent 10 months at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney, working with adults with an acquired brain injury.
