A Birmingham City University lecturer has been honoured for her efforts in training the next generation of teachers at the Design and Technology Excellence Awards.
Design and Technology PGCE Subject Leader Tracey Goodyere took home the Design and Technology Teacher Education Award after being nominated by some of her trainee teachers at the University, having also been shortlisted for the award last year.
The annual event held at The Institution of Engineering and Technology in London recognises the commitment and achievements of teachers, teacher trainers, education consultants and academics across primary and secondary schools, and further and higher education.
Tracey said:
“Our numbers are still very buoyant at a time when there are huge shortages of trainee teachers nationally and that’s because of the facilities and the practical experience we offer for students.”
Tony Ryan, Chief Executive of the Design and Technology Association, added: “Tracey is to be congratulated on her well-deserved award, and celebrated for going above and beyond what might be expected in her contributions to supporting the subject of design and technology.
“We know that employers across the advanced manufacturing and creative industries are already concerned about the real shortage of engineers and designers and we need more people like Tracey inspire future generations.”
