Graham Sibley
Graham Sibley is the Principal Tuba of the CBSO and BCMG.
Originally born and brought up in Cornwall, Graham began playing with the brass bands of that area and was also a member of the National Youth Brass Band. Later band experience came with Desford Colliery and The Hendon Bands after winning a Duchy of Cornwall Scholarship to Gordonstoun School. He studied with James Anderson and Patrick Harrild at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and also later studied privately with Arnold Jacobs (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Rex Martin (Northwestern University) and was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the YMSO.
He was principal tuba of the Northern Ballet Theatre Orchestra and enjoyed a busy and varied freelance career based in London working with most of the UKs major orchestras and ensembles and also TV and Film work prior to taking up the CBSO position in 2008. Graham was also teacher of tuba at Junior Guildhall, Christs Hospital School and Radley College-he has also coached for the NYO.
Concerto and solo appearances have been with the BBC Concert Orchestra (BBC Radio 3 and BBC 4) the Brighton Philharmonic, BCMG and most recently with CBSO.
