Come and experience the creative results of this years’ Young Composers Project. 16 young creative composers, aged 14-18, have explored musical traditions and worked closely with musicians from around the world to create a fascinating and unique concert.

This boundary-breaking concert showcases the diverse musical range of work produced over 6 months with special guest performances from RBC formed folk-fusion band ‘Gathering Tides’ in addition to a world première commission from YCP alumnus Kailan Barton-Porter.

A free pre-concert of Gamelan music performed and composed by the YCP group will take place at 5.30pm in the Conservatoire café. There will also be an installation of electronic music happening during the interval.

The Young Composers, established in 2013 by Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Alumnus composer Kirsty Devaney, has since supported over 200 young people in their creative music making.
