The Hammond Organ has a very special place in jazz history but can be quite neglected due to the rarity of good playable instruments and the logistical difficulties of heaving them in and out of venues. But you need no longer fear for the longevity and visibility of the Hammond in the UK. Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is now the proud owner of two such instruments complete with Leslie 145 speakers and we are ready to go.
From the music of Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Dr Lonnie Smith to Larry Goldings and Joey Defrancesco, we embrace it all in these Hammond Nights at Eastside Jazz Club.
Support is from vocalist Gabriella Liandu accompanied by Isaac Sansom (piano), Jonno Gaze (drums), Nick Manz (bass) and Timmy Allen (guitar).
