Mike Williams with Mark Hodgson, Simon Purcell and James Maddren
Guest Jazz Artists
Eastside Jazz Club, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire
200 Jennens Road, B4 7XR
£15 (£12)

Mike Williams is one of the UK’s most significant alto saxophonists and a highly revered teacher. Many graduates of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Jazz courses site lessons with Mike as among their most significant landmarks on their journey to becoming a professional jazz musician. The majority of Mike’s professional life is pedagogical, and so these rare outings in performance mode are often packed to capacity with Mike’s former pupils and these events never disappoint. Be sure to book in advance.
Tonight Mike appears with some of his favourite musicians with whom he has built a musical relationship over many years. Simon Purcell on piano, Mark Hodgson on bass and James Maddren on drums, all master musicians in their own right.
The student support band prior to this headline is led by BMusJazz3 bassist Josh Vadiveloo with James Borland (trumpet), Nick Manz (piano) and Kai Chareunsy (drums).
