Microcosm. A little world. A community, place or situation encapsulating in miniature something much larger. I gradually collected these pieces throughout the lockdowns of the past two years, getting to know composers on social media. As our physical worlds grew tiny, the digital world opened up, and a real community of new music blossomed on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. We started to exchange messages, ideas, music. This programme represents my world during this time: music to find a creative outlet, music to protest with, music to find solace.
Composers include: Sarah Jeffery, Florence Anna Maunders, Paula Matthusen, Wilma Pistorius, Alice Jones, Melika M Fitzhugh, Steve Reich and Fumiharu Yoshimine.
