Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Advanced Postgraduate Diploma Students are trialling a pilot scheme in collaboration with Millennium Point and Mulino’s Birmingham in which they are performing short slots between 13:00-13:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. And so, if you feel like taking a little break and listening to some live music, come over to Level 2 of Millennium Point.

Yating Hu is a mezzo-soprano and classical opera singer who originates from Anhui Province, in the East of China. She has studied singing at the Xinghai Conservatory of music in China, at the Manhattan School of music in New York, and at the Musikschule Ettlingenin Germany. She is currently studying for Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in vocal performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Yvonne Sandison.

During her time at RBC, Yating has sung the title roles in Bizet’s Carmen and Rossini’s La Cenerentola for RBC’s Opera Scenes; she has also played the roles of Lady Bertram in Dove’s Mansfield Park, and Sycorax in Handel’s The Enchanted Island for RBC’s opera productions. She was recently selected to participate in a rehearsal workshop with Welsh National Opera, performing one of Carmen’s arias with the orchestra and conductor.
