Language of Tapestry, is a creative exploration of how tapestry technique, structure and theme can be translated through the disciplines of Movement and Music. A close weaving of these disciplines forms a performance event that is captured forever within the stitches of its own needlepoint tapestry.
Stitch by stitch the tapestry slowly grows within the framework of the fabrics warp and weft. Such ideas are reflected in our disciplines, music played live transcends the notes on the page just as the linking of gestures form a dance. Experience the performance through the language of tapestry as you are invited to look behind the stitches.
An event in three parts:
- A Weaving of Music and Movement: A live interdisciplinary performance inspired by tapestry.
- The Tapestry: The viewing of a needlepoint tapestry that depiction and documents the event.
- Behind the Stitches: A film looking at the making of the performance and tapestry and their links.
