John Stowell playing guitar

'John Stowell is a unique jazz guitarist influenced as much by pianists and horn players as he is by guitarists. His original take on harmony, chords and improvisation sets him apart.

For this special gig, which is one of only a handful of UK appearances, John is joined tonight by tenor saxophonist Alex Merritt, drummer Eric Ford and electric bassist Kevin Glasgow who collectively make up Trio KAE who, with their personal approach to interpreting the standard repertoire as well as their own original music, will be the perfect foil for John's approach.

“He plays his amplified guitar as if he were surrounded by fine crystal... the type of slow burning, sustained energy that you hear in players that practice all the time.”
Downbeat

“John Stowell’s approach to harmony that is uniquely his own.”
Just Jazz Guitar

"Stowell played beautifully, combining his trademark creamy chord voicings with long, sinewy phrases."
