Thriving on the success of our first ever Hammond Night last November, here is our second date. This time we have a special guest Mike Gorman overseeing the show. As a jazz organist, Mike Gorman is a key member of the Jim Mullen Organ Trio, with whom he as recorded three acclaimed albums. Mike is also in great demand as a session player touring and recording extensively with a wide variety of artists in the field of popular and commercial music, including Boy George, Mica Paris, Incognito, Us3, Van Morrison, Hamish Stuart, Marty Pellow, Marlena Shaw, Gwen McCrae, Andrea Bocelli and Tom Robinson.
Our gig will be a procession of various Hammond Organ-led bands, back to back in one long set, including special guest features from Mike Gorman. Expect repertoire from the great annals of Hammond Organ music inspired by luminaries of the instrument such as Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Dr Lonnie Smith to Larry Goldings and Joey Defrancesco .
The student support band prior to this headline is led by BMusJazz4 saxophonist Dan Lockheart.
