Dvořák’s magnificent Terzetto for two violins and viola, the first piece for this combination, is preceded by a rare performance of Onslow’s Quintet The Bullet in which he depicts the moment he was accidentally shot in the ear during a hunting party!

A selection of Bartok’s miraculous folk-derived Duos for two violins and a particularly fiery and defiant Shostakovich quartet movement complete this energetic programme.
