Nafis Umerkulova piano
Schumann Sonata No.1 in F sharp minor Op.11
Albeniz Suite Espanola: Sevilla, Cadiz, Asturias, Aragon
Despite the complexity and richness of the musical material in Schumann's Sonata No.1, each theme is unique in its expressive qualities and the overall balance of the form is easily achieved. The second movement – the Aria is based entirely on Schumann’s song – An Anna, which he wrote at the age of 18. Liszt referred to this movement as “the most perfect ideas”, that he had ever come across.
Hear multiple prize-winning pianist, Nafis Umerkulova perform this alongside Suite Española, by Albeniz – miniature tone pictures portraying different geographical regions and musical idioms of Spain.
