César Violin Sonata in A Major

Works for piano duet connected by their deliberate simplicity, miniature masterpieces all three. Ravel’s Mère l’Oye  (Mother Goose) was in fact written for two precocious young children, aged 6 and 7!

Cesar Frank’s Violin Sonata inhabits a decidedly adult world. It is a masterpiece of unbridled passion, melodic beauty and structural genius, widely considered one of the greatest of its genre.
