Expedition Arts

18 November 1828, on the eve of his death Franz Schubert’s mind has been consumed by syphilis. Struggling to comprehend his mortality and the future of his own artistic legacy, he turns to madness, singing aloud Lieder of time gone by. The songs take us on a journey through his life, from his time as an inspired youth to a Bohemian in love, and finally a man devoured by temptation.

Join Expedition Arts as we raise the curtain to Birmingham Conservatoire’s Schubert Festival (from 22-26 Feb). Featuring many of his Lieder, this new piece of theatre promises to bring this prolific composer to life like never before.
