Vaughan Williams The Wasps: Overture
Elgar The Wand of Youth: Suite No.1
Britten Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes

Continuing our survey of orchestral music by British composers, the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra takes to the Symphony Hall stage for a programme rich in colour and variety.

Vaughan Williams’s spirited and much-loved Wasps overture is complemented by Elgar’s Wand of Youth – an enchanting realisation of a work first conceived in childhood. Britten’s evocative Sea Interludes captures the varying moods of the ocean. This short sequence of ‘tone-poems’ are guaranteed to transport you far from the city to the barren seascape of the East coast.
