Special Events and Festivals

Date and time
19 Sep 2015 (7:45pm)

Broadway United Reformed Church, Walsall

£5 on entry

Daniel Bishop, Liverpool Cathedral

Venue: Broadway United Reformed Church, Gillity Avenue, Walsall, WS5 3PH

In complete contrast to the brand new "no expense spared" organ in the Elgar Concert Hall, the organ at Broadway URC Walsall was built 25 years ago on a shoe-string budget from redundant pipework (mainly from local organs by Nicholson of Worcester and Nicholson & Lord of Walsall). It is a bold attempt to show what can be achieved by a small church with very limited resources, but which was determined to replace an electronic organ with something better.

Menuet (Concerto VI for two organs) - Soler

Arioso & Andante - Fiocco

Sarabande in modo elegiaco - Howells

Andante Tranquillo & Fanfare - Whitlock

Rhosymedre - Vaughan Williams

Fantasia in G major (BWV572) - J.S. Bach

Nimrod from 'Enigma Variations' - Elgar

Crown Imperial - Walton

There will be a wine reception from 7.15pm
