Alex studied for his bachelor's degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the tutelage of Mark Ashford and Mark Eden and graduated with first-class honours. During his time at the conservatoire he has won the Guitar Prize and the Guitar Strings Etudes Prize. He began his postgraduate study with Graham Devine at Trinity Laban September 2017 and was awarded the Leverhulme Scholarship, as well as the Alison Stephen’s Prize. He has performed in masterclasses to renowned artists, including Marcin Dylla, Xuefei Yang, Irina Kulikova, Marek Pasieczny, Carlo Marchione and John Mills. In February 2017 Alex was selected to perform Villa-Lobos Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra with the Birmingham Conservatoire Projects Orchestra at the CBSO centre.
