The Big Bass Day
At Royal Birmingham Conservatoire we are totally in love with the double bass and we would like to welcome you to our next fantastic event for young bassists…
Building on the success and popularity of “The Big Little Bass Day” we are hosting our second event this academic year “The Big Bass Day”.
If you are at grade 5 and above (up to conservatoire level), we would love to welcome you to our state-of-the-art facilities in Birmingham. There will be opportunities to observe masterclasses and if you sign up in advance you may be offered a masterclass place in the afternoon session.
A full day of “all things double bass” at RBC, featuring Lorraine Campet - international soloist and orchestra principal.
The morning session will feature Lorraine delivering a masterclass session to students of RBC from 11.45pm until 1.15pm.
This will be followed by Lorraine performing in a lunchtime recital at 1.45pm, which promises to be a spectacular and exciting event from this world class superstar.
In the afternoon, from 3pm - 4pm, there will be masterclass opportunities for students of pre-college age to play to Lorraine on the Bradshaw Concert Hall stage. This is an ideal opportunity to improve your performance skills in advance of conservatoire auditions.
There will also be classes on technique and orchestral repertoire, in a session from 5pm - 7pm featuring the international pedagogue and teacher Caroline Emery and Tony Alcock (CBSO Section leader, Double bass). All sessions will be open to the public from 11.45am. Join us on our mission to support and encourage young talent on the double bass.
