In this programme, the Musical & Amicable Society explore works popular in Britain in the first half of the eighteenth century. The enthusiasm for the concerti grossi of Corelli and his contemporaries spawned a generation of publications from native composers hoping to cater for the growing market of gentry amateur musicians. The works performed in this pre-recorded concert are all taken from the music collection of the Earls of Bradford, the Bridgeman family, whose country seat was nearby Castle Bromwich Hall.
