Grisey Vortex Temporum
BCMG NEXT give a rare performance of Gérard Grisey’s masterpiece Vortex Temporum. Dating from 1996, two years before his untimely death, this work explores and transfigures our experience of time, each of the three movements providing a lens onto a different time-frame: ‘normal’, human time, the ‘expanded’ time of whales and the ‘compressed’ time of birds. The concert will be introduced by the composer Julian Anderson.
