Adjudicators Martin Riley, Anna Downes
Well-respected as a composer around the world and former Head of Composition at the Conservatoire (1990-2005), Andrew Downes’s music has been performed throughout the world, in many leading concert halls and cathedrals, and has been broadcast at home and abroad.
The Andrew Downes Performance Prize requires entrants to perform a programme of Andrew Downes’s music along, with that of other composers born 1940s onwards, as they compete to win an impressive cash prize and recital opportunity.
The competition this year has special poignancy following the sad passing of Professor Downes early in 2023. Join us and help to make this special evening of music an event to remember for the Downes family and Andrew's many devoted friends, students and colleagues.
