- 2.relating to activities that depart from or challenge traditional norms:"an alternative lifestyle"
The orchestra is a staple of classical music, new and old. It has changed with each and every stylistic period. Instruments have been added, instruments have been taken away. What continues is its existence as the ensemble that signifies classical music.
The Alternative Orchestra is a showcase of how the next generation of composers change our understanding of what an orchestra can be. Each of the four new pieces explores new innovations and sound-worlds that question the past and point to the future of classical music. Come along and hear the future.
