Two men in a field wearing giant papier maché heads. Plus text: "A Book of Portraits"

Alex and Peter the 43rd custodians of A Book of Portraits invite you to a community theatre and music event in the Village of Hatton, Warwickshire. The pupils of the Village Primary School will help us to repair our magic music box during the day, before we invite you all to join us for the evening’s performance, intended to spread good luck and favourable eventualities to all who take part. See our collection of quirky characters inspired by a folk aesthetic come to life as we travel around the village. This promenade street theatre event will take place in the very heart of Hatton, exploring the local landscape and buildings, with elements of the event taking place in the Village Hall, Church, and surrounding countryside.

Alex and Peter need your help in the performance of A of Book of Portraits. Join us for an evening of music, frolic and whimsy as we re-imagine tradition and ceremony. The Lavender Man will be summoned, the dance of the Flower Maiden learned, and the Lovers pitied in their endless raging tiff. The musical Fox is roaming, and the Drummer is guiding us forward. Hear the words of the Scholar as the bells ring out in rapture. The Book will be opened, the portraits are alive, and (allegedly) good luck served up aplenty for all who partake in the fun.

The event is free to attend and was created for the residents and community of the Hatton area. Please bring the whole family, however it is recommended for children over eight years of age. The majority of the performance event takes place outside and involves walking and standing at different performance locations, sensible footwear is needed. This is a structured event lasting 120 minutes with optional participatory elements. This event is not suitable for dogs, only service dogs permitted.

In the event of heavy rain on the day an alternative indoor version of the performance will be provided.

Parking available at Holy Trinity Church and the Scout Campsite.

Limited parking at Hatton Village Hall.
