Benjamin Hudson is Principal Bassoon with the Manchester Camerata, prior to which he was the Principal Bassoon with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and 2nd Bassoon with the Halle Orchestra. Since leaving the Halle, Benjamin has enjoyed taking lessons with Ole Kristian Dahl in Germany, and working regularly as a Guest Principal Bassoon with UK Orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Birmingham Royal Ballet (the last two with whom he is currently on trial).
In the field of chamber music, he was a founder member of Ensemble 360, and he works regularly with the contemporary group Psappha. Benjamin was the woodwind winner and concerto finalist in the BBC Young Musicians 1996 Competition. He currently teaches at both Chetham’s School of Music and at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
