Four steps to apply via UCAS

The prospect of applying to university is exciting and we’re going to show the application process can be. We’ve put together a step-by-step UCAS guide, so that you can begin your journey to success here at Birmingham City University.

The UCAS search tool is a fantastic way to narrow down your options and discover the right course for you. Filter by location, entry requirements, and subject areas - or just enter a few keywords and let the website do the work for you.

It’s important to study a subject of interest and one you will enjoy. University is a huge commitment that will play a big part in shaping your future, so make sure you give it plenty of thought. Once you have made your decision, it is time to apply. The deadline for applications at BCU is 15 January.

Once you have received your offer status back from your chosen universities, you will be asked to reply by a specific deadline. You can select a firm choice, which is your first-choice university, and an insurance choice, which is a back-up in case you don’t meet the conditions for your firm choice. All other offers will be declined.

After you have made your choices, it’s your time to work hard and achieve the best grades you can. UCAS Track will be updated by the university once they have your exam results or any other evidence that you’ve met the conditions of your offer. If you meet the conditions, congratulations you’ve made it into university! If you are unsuccessful, don’t worry – you can use Clearing to apply for more courses in the same academic year.

Stay on track with your BCU application by following the application timeline. Take a look at key dates for your diary and find useful information such as student finance and accommodation.
