We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Birmingham City University’s Faculty of Computing Engineering and Built Environment, and hope that you get the most from your time studying here.
You'll probably be getting a lot of information from different people before you arrive, which can be confusing - especially as you prepare to start one of the biggest experiences of your life! With this in mind, some of the most important information that you need as you prepare for Welcome Week can be found on these pages, to ensure that you are best prepared to get started on your university journey.
Welcome Guide and Welcome Pack
You should receive a welcome guide by email about three weeks before you commence your studies with us, which will be followed by a Welcome pack. If you are a UK student, the Welcome pack will be sent to your home address. If you are an international student, you will be able to collect it during International Orientation Week.
The welcome guide provides you with essential information that you need to know as you prepare to become a student with us, including what you need to do before and immediately after you arrive. Your Welcome pack gives you more information about studying here and settling into University life. It also tells you about some of the main university services that are available to you during your time as a student.
If you haven't received your online guide by the end of August, please email CEBEFacultyOffice@bcu.ac.uk
Plenty of support is available to you as a student, both through the ASK Student Hub, and the Faculty's Student Success Advisors. They can advise on a variety of academic and pastoral issues, and are there to ensure that you as student can maximise your chances whilst at university.
Once you've enrolled, you will be assigned a personal tutor, who will meet during welcome week, and will become a named point of contact throughout your university study if you have any pastoral issues. You can always contact them if have any problems.
Level Up Welcome Programme
The Faculty's Student Success Advisors and students have prepared a comprehensive and engaging pre-arrival program, designed to help you get used to higher education at Birmingham City University.
The team will be in contact with you soon through email to let you know how to access Level Up, and a team of Student Buddies will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
